Project Warm Up

Greetings Sioux Falls School District Staff!

We’re thrilled to announce the 19th Annual Project Warm-Up – the biggest blanket-making party around! Join us on Saturday, December 14th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School (1510 S Lake Avenue) for a day of fun, community, and giving.

What is Project Warm-Up?

In 2006, we hosted our very first event with 20 Lincoln High School students. Since then, thanks to our amazing community, Project Warm-Up has grown to include blanket makers across the community and beyond! Over the years, we’ve distributed more than 40,000 new fleece blankets to children and families in need within the Sioux Empire!!

Our blankets bring warmth to those experiencing poverty, homelessness, illness, loss, foster care transitions, and more. Recipients include every SFSD school and many organizations like Child’s Voice, Ronald McDonald Houses, Avera Children’s Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, St. Francis House, and many others. This summer, hundreds of blankets were delivered to victims of the devastating flooding in Dakota Dunes, Rock Valley, Canton, McCook Lake, Spencer, and more.

How You Can Get Involved:

  • Join us

on December 14th for a blanket-making party like no other.

blanket-making event with your team, club, youth group, book club, family, friends, or classmates!

Know Someone in Need?
If you know of a student or family who could benefit from the warmth and comfort of a new blanket, please let us know.

Thank you for your continued support! Project Warm-Up wouldn’t be possible without the kindness and generosity of our community.

With so much gratitude,
Tracy Vik
